I meet Melissa Lail in the 90 degree heat outside the WTVC news building. We'd both been enjoying the air conditioning in our cars till the last possible moment. We've not been aquainted til now but I quickly understand she is a welcoming person and so right for the job she's charged with. We sign in and are immediately brought to the green room.
The other guests on that day's show are all conversing and enjoying the dog one of the guests has brought to be on the show and hopefully adopted by a veiwer. He's adorable and we're, of course, all petting him.
It's my first promotional appearance for Hartsyfartsy Caricatures but not my first in front of a camera. I'm totally comfortable and trying to be very aware of when it's my time to chime in and attempting to not talk too much. James is a wonderful interviewer and so familiar with the beat of his show that he guides us beautifully through the segment. Often times I can be a bit of an interviewer or therapist while I draw, so I really appreciate his skill here.
The segment is over quickly and Melissa and I say goodbye and head to our cars. I close the car door and turn the key to blast more of that sweet, sweet air conditioning and am just so thankful for where we are and the community we have here. This is exactly the kind of place we were hoping to find for what we do and Chattanooga has been so kind to us. Here's to our future here and the hope that we bring even more smiles to this area.
